Life in our Afghan Villages
We work in a variety of villages across north-central Afghanistan.  Given our home on the Silk Road, it's not unusual to find Tajiks, Uzbeks, Turkmen, Hazaras, Pashtuns, and Arabs all in the same classroom.  Before the kids started school, most of them spoke only one language.  Now they are learning a common language -- Dari.

As you can see in the photos, life is very simple.  Most of the people live on $1-$2 per day.
